Little known facts.

Post by no name »

Just a thread about facts you hear that surprise you. Like:

There are more people in California (36m) than in all of Canada (33m). Also 75% of the population of Canada lives 100 miles from the U.S. boarder.

I did, however, know the fact about Reno. Uncle John's Bathroom Reader is exceptional reading.

While the moon appears larger near the horizon, it is actually always the same size in the sky.

Do a handstand and look at it upside down when it is close to the horizon if you need verification.

The leading theory... (ok not a fact) the earth sits at a 21 degree angle suggest that a small Mars like planet slammed into earth about a billion years into the earths development. This pushed us to a 21 degree angle. The debris from this small planet became the moon.

It is pretty much the number one accepted theory.

The largest number of children born to one woman is recorded at 69. From 1725-1765, a Russian peasant woman gave birth to 16 sets of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets.

The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.

I don't know if I'm more amazed about the quantity or the fact that there was no singles.
