At least the ref is trying to keep control by calling a penalty there

Eller in front with the deflection from Sid..Nothing cute but as usual we see the simple plays work.

I did not expect Eller to be this good when we signed him.

If you want them to win, that was great. If you want them to lose, well.... not so much.

Looking pretty good offensively. I feel like there still have been too many defensive breakdowns to feel totally comfortable with this lead.

But what if Dubas is able to trade one of Smith, Rust, or Rakell plus a pick/prospect for a younger skill player who is cheaper, and then retain Ned for 2.5-3.5M?

I think there will be a bunch of options looked at over the summer and at the draft.

When must they decide what to do with the SJ draft pick? Before or after the ping pong balls drop?

Both Goals from a combined 5 feet from the crease this period.
Ned was good, controlled the rebounds and was strong positionally.
Pens had a couple of shifts where they were too passive in their Defensive Zone which let the Red Wings get sone chances.
Decent break out passes from the Defense this game has been a plus.
Sid having a big game,2 Points and nearly got another Goal.

I will take some solace that this one game might not make a difference in playoffs or lottery but this helps the Caps get ahead of the Wings and further away from a top 3 pick so winning isn’t too bad tonight.

Sid busting his tail on that back check was awesome. Not many players do that at the point in their careers where he is.

I don't know that they actually have the option. I believe if the pick is in the top 10, it's Pittsburgh's. If it's 11 or higher, it's SJ.

If they do have the right to decide, I'm sure it would be after the lottery is picked.

That patterned shirt looks sweet. Hope they don't get lifted by the Vandergrift Mafia.

Imagine if Eller ragged that puck to Ned for a shot at the EN?

It’s protected meaning we can delay the pick if we are in the top 10. We don’t need to keep it.
