just noticed there were 2 Red Bull cars in the field (83 and 4). You mean there's not a rule about running cars with similar paint schemes?

When Penske first came into NASCAR both the 2 and 12 had the same paint scheme, so did Ray Evernham in the 9 and 19.JS© wrote:just noticed there were 2 Red Bull cars in the field (83 and 4). You mean there's not a rule about running cars with similar paint schemes?

First time I have had zero interest in a Talladega race. Pairs racing has officially killed what was good about restrictor plate racing. Nothing more fun than pushing the same car around the track for 500 miles

Junior Johnson had the 11 and 12 both in Bud colors back in the early 80s. Not illegal if the sponsor wants to pay for two teams...Point Breeze Penguins wrote:When Penske first came into NASCAR both the 2 and 12 had the same paint scheme, so did Ray Evernham in the 9 and 19.JS© wrote:just noticed there were 2 Red Bull cars in the field (83 and 4). Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
what a nutty finish. Had a feeling going down the backstretch the 48 would win it. If only because it was too late in this pairs format for the 48/88 to have swapped.

Happy to see Hendrick finish well, but this is why pairs racing irritates me so much. Earnhardt was essentially relegated to be Johnson's pusher the entire race, and in this kind of racing format, that pretty much guarantees he will have no shot at the win. Johnson has five straight championships and a boatload of wins...wtf?relantel wrote:what a nutty finish. Had a feeling going down the backstretch the 48 would win it. Not true if you heard post race comments. Jr made the call to push the 48. He said they ran better that way. I agree that I didn't see it that way either but hey that's why they are doing it for a living and we are just spectators.shafnutz05 wrote:Happy to see Hendrick finish well, but this is why pairs racing irritates me so much. Yeah, you're right, was just hoping Talldega would be where he broke the streak.superstartreatment wrote:Not true if you heard post race comments. Jr made the call to push the 48. JJ was genuinely appreciative after the race, that was nice to see. Twas definitely an amazing finish.

He will break the streak this season for sure. It looks like the equipment and crew cheif switch is really paying off for everyone in Hendrick. This is making Rick Hendrick even more of a genius than he already is.

Awesome! Who'd you get them from? You'll love Richmond. I've been there many times. I won Bristol tickets from Truex last year

I'll add that with the new Bristol configuration, I would take tickets to Richmond or Martinsville over Bristol any day.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
This year's tix are from JRM. Last went to RIR in Sept 08 (Courtesy of Sprint), and before that the races in 2003. 3 RIR races, 3 HMS wins. 2 Johnson and 1 for Nemechek. Dover is the same way, 4 dover races, 1 Newman (Penske era) and 3 Johnson. All pretty good races. The Nemechek one was cut short for rain by 7 laps, and the 2008 RIR race was run on Sunday. Dover is sometimes more of a snoozer, but I recall one race there in 2002 where we could have sworn that the 28 of Ricky Rudd had won, only to find out he had pitted and we didn't know it from high in our perch in turn 3.DMcGrew wrote:relantel wrote:WOOOT!

So far so good for the weekend. The 88 was fastest in first practice and will go out last of the top 35 to qualify... and the weather is supposed to stay good (it rained there last night for the KNPSE race and the Denny Hamlin charity race)

I am extremely impressed with the 88 team. It looked like their race was over early on. Letarte makes a great call to get Earnhardt back on the lead lap, and now he is running 7th and climbing. A totally different team than what we have seen over the last few years.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
And in a twist of cruel fate, it fell apart when it became a fuel-mileage race and there were no more cautions. Cost the 88 at least 10 spots, though wondered what happened on the lap he fell from 6th to 10th, not long before the fuel splash. In some way, it comes across as a positive that Earnhardt was so ticked off at 19th, where last year 19th might have seen a good day. Though the staying out at the time it happened did keep the 88 out of the big one - so it's a double-edged sword. We were in Turn 3, right above where Gordon's car ended up.shafnutz05 wrote:I am extremely impressed with the 88 team. It looked like their race was over early on. The video screens on the new scoring tower are a major plus. Really no complaint from the track, other than the standard one, which isn't just them but Dover too - the event staff there to help park cars is gone when it comes time to disburse cars. The Henrico police are at the main roads, and Meadowbridge was two lanes outbound, even though no one was using the left one by the time we got there.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
Avoid it? All KyBu did was stoke it higher, and endangered pit road personnel in the process. I full well expect NASCAR to pull a Carl-Brad resolution out of this, though, and put both Busch and Harvick on probation, even if Kyle deserves to be parked. As if one intentional spin under yellow wasn't enough, that would have probably been overlooked. But NASCAR has no choice but to issue some sanction for the pit road spin. Too bad Kyle Busch wasn't man enough to talk to Harvick face to face.Point Breeze Penguins wrote:Kevin Harvick is a bug giant baby...kudos to Kyle for trying to avoid confrontation.
