Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Jagr is being very smart right now. It seems likely he'll return to the K, but by causing a little stir about a possible return, he's going to probably create a SLIGHT bidding war. For as much as some people on here might want to knock him on the fact he's aging and lost his step, etc.., he still put up 25 goals and 71 points his last season in the NHL. Of course he's not the same player and he has lost a step and edge to his game, but I personally feel that he could definitely have a 20 to 25 goal/50+ point season. I don't think he'll put up 70 points or anything like that, but I'd welcome him at the right price.
To me, and some will probably flame me for this, but I'd go $2M for one season on Jagr. I just for some reason don't think he really wants to come back to the Pens. I feel like it's just media fluff to stir up interest in him by other teams. The rumor that makes the most sense to me is Montreal.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
If someone is going to flame you for that, they aren't living in reality. We paid $3.5m for hoping Satan still had something left in him. I bet someone like NYR or MTL would offer quite a bit more than that. Realistically, he'll be offered over $3m+ per season if he's expected to be a 2nd liner.Hugo Stiglitz wrote:

The real question is whether he is serious or not at playing in the NHL because he'd be taking a significant pay cut to come to the NHL but might be able to make some of it up in endorsements.

I think this is the first year he was an actual free agent though (other than the year he went to Russia).littlemoonboot wrote:I love Jags but I feel like every year this comes up we just end up getting punk'd by him.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Who do you think he would play with? Malkin or Crosby? I know that he probably wont be coming back to Pittsburgh, however hypothetically I think he'd be a better fit with Crosby. Move Neal to 2nd

I like Jagr, but I can do without his drama, mood swings and 'acting out' on the ice. I don't think he'd fit in with the current Pens.

If his actions in NYC, Omsk, and International play w/Czech Rep. are any indication he left that behavior in DC.I like Jagr, but I can do without his drama, mood swings and 'acting out' on the ice

Many Rangers fans disagree. His time there was very up and down, including a rumor that he tanked his final season to miss performance targets that would have automatically added another year to his contract - enabling him to sign a lucrative, tax-free deal with Omsk that was a distraction all season. Why Not Us wrote:If his actions in NYC, Omsk, and International play w/Czech Rep. are any indication he left that behavior in DC.I like Jagr, but I can do without his drama, mood swings and 'acting out' on the ice

While forgetting he was named Captain (which speaheaded NYR back into the post-season), took a rookie into his home (Petr Prucha), and saw his best offensive numbers since leaving Pittsburgh (his 123 points in 05/06 were the 3rd best in his career).Desiato wrote:Many Rangers fans disagree. I hope Jagr signs an unbreakable lifelong contract in the KHL with a clause that he can only return to the NHL if the league collapses and even then not to the Penguins. Only then can we go an off season without suggesting that this washed up old Kit Kat Monster return to Pittsburgh for anything other than a golf event or picking up some old Czech playboys from his South Hills home.

I bet hundreds of players had one of their best offensive years in 05/06. Regardless, his final season left a really bad taste in the mouths of a good number of Rangers fans, and I don't blame them. Why Not Us wrote:While forgetting he was named Captain (which speaheaded NYR back into the post-season), took a rookie into his home (Petr Prucha), and saw his best offensive numbers since leaving Pittsburgh (his 123 points in 05/06 were the 3rd best in his career).Desiato wrote:

If the Pens weren't expected to contend, I'd support signing him for the feel-good moments. But I wouldn't risk the team chemistry of a contender. Too little to gain, too much to lose.

I watched every game Jagr played for the Rangers and his effort was there all the time. Had he played with a goal scorer like Stamkos he would have had 80-90 assist every year, easily. It was insane how many chances he set up that were missed.
Too me it was rather the opposite, Jagr got off to a slow start and wanted to reach the goals what would extend his contract badly, and then he could not put up with the pressure in the end. Jagr did much the Rangers and then got a real **** offer. Jagr wanted to come back for like 2 x years at 4-5 million a year, which would have been very fair, but sather only wanted to do one year deals etc.
And Jagrs 2005-2006 season is easily the most dominating any player has had since maybe the late 1990s. Jagr was great at NYR - period.
Only reason he did not stay was that Glen Sather paid big bucks for Gomez and Drury (who both did maybe half of what Jagr did himself) and could not offer Jagr a decent contract.

But that can't be right, I mean Rob Rossi said! And lots of other people wrote stuff on the internet about it! Shero is obviously lying until his plan to fully reconstruct the 1991 Cup championship team is complete.newarenanow wrote:http://www.postgazette.com/pg/11137/1147183-100.stm

They were standing on Lemieux's front porch, when it was discussed."We have not discussed it internally, put it that way," Shero said
