Kyle was doing all he could to avoid Harvick. That is why he skipped Pit Road at the end and Harvick followed him. Then like the baby he is he blocks Kyle's car on Pit Road.
Notice Harvick didn't care he destroyed his compatriots car being an idiot.

Also don't forget Harvick wrecked Kyle on purpose at Homestead.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
PBP, don't see NASCAR doing any more about it other than probation for both. At least that is all we will hear about - as we all know they love the attention that perceived conflict brings. No offense to the 39/42, but the 29/18 spat brings far more attention, from both a personalty perspective, as well as a performance one.
I don't disagree that Harvick was ill-advised to stop where he did, but it does not excuse KyBu from gassing it like that on pit road. I could look past the intentional turn on the straightaway after the yellow was already out - turnabout is fair play. Hence why I expect nothing to come of that other than Kyle having to look over his shoulder for the rest of the season.
Now, I take Harvick's last minute entry into Friday' night's truck race at Dover as a provocation. And there are no shortage of other drivers in that series that wouldn't blink an eye for the chance to take either of them out, if the "opportunity" arises. I suspect NASCAR will have another meeting in the hauler prior to the truck race, kind of like they did with Newman/Montoya on Friday at Darlington.
I will say one thing positive for Kyle - he sure as hell cured Kurt's image problem when he came along. Kyle could learn a lot from Kurt's maturation.

One of Clint Bowyer's crew members had a piece of his care fly into the pits and hit his leg.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
That was a sick wreck at the end of the NW race. Amazing it started with no contact between Logano and Edwards, and that Edwards acted as if he had gotten into Logano. Though it sure looked to me that the flagman was waving the yellow right before Edwards crossed the line to take the white - under the new G-W-C rules, that being the 2nd attempt, there should have been one more. I think they conveniently overlooked that fact due to the time it would take to clean up the wreck and didn't want another red flag, having already been delayed by rain. (And for what it's worth, I think the race ending at the red flag for rain would have been a better story - a Nationwide regular would have won)
PS - the female finalist of Survivor last night sure looks like Joey Logano...

Junior being relatively close to the front the entire race on Sunday was a good sign. Dover is historically one of those tracks that hasn't been too kind to him.

Not really. Aside from some interesting pit strategy towards the end that gave Kenseth the win (and buried Edwards/Johnson in the field), Dover was its typical boring self.superstartreatment wrote:I missed the race yesterday. Anything good happen?

I missed the race. Watched (well skimmed) through Victory Lane this morning. Curious if the 88 took 2 or 4 the last stop? I had a text with the top 5 + Jr in 10th with about 15 to go, then heard he fell to 12th at the flag. I did see the top 5 in points remained unchanged - and that the 88 is 40 points up on 11th, not bad when the max swing in a race is 47. Would be nice to see them consistently fighting for top 5s at the end of the race though - and maybe the goals will make the team come out working even harder toward the summer stretch.shafnutz05 wrote:Not really. (I don't know about you - but considering last summer's crash - they were 11th in points after the Firecracker 400 - I almost don't think I'll be convinced until they either win a race, or they have actually clinched a chase spot)

Ah, gotcha. Where were they running before the stop?shafnutz05 wrote:Junior took two, was junk after that.
(I was in a blind area barely capable of data - if I walked outside from the party we were at. Last check of NSCM app was about lap 280 or so, a round of apparent green flag stops, where I think the 88 was around 9th or so. And I deleted the race off the DVR w/o watching it for space considerations since the 17 had won)

A decent site as far as % chances for the Chase...

Looks like Regan Smith's wildcard chances took a huge hit yesterday, as he is more than a race's max worth of points behind 20th. In other words, right now, a win would be huge, since there are two wildcard spots based on wins, and only one driver in the eligible range for said wins wildcard - the 24. If no one else in that 11-20 range has any wins, it would be the one with the most points otherwise (right now Mark Martin in 11th). I also got the impression the wildcards are due to be seeded 11 and 12, and will not get the bonus points at the reset for any wins during races 1-26.

Thanks for the clip - the way the 33 went up on edge reminded me of a Busch series race at Bristol a few years back where Truex (driving for Chance 2/DEI) rode the outside wall the whole length of the straightaway with the right side tires above the fence and the left on the track. Maybe it was in 2005? That one was much less violent, by riding the wall, and eventually coming back down on the wheels, and not hit by several others like Bowyer was on Saturday. Just strange to see a car flip up on one side, and not go all the way over on the roof.
The 46 second mark of this clip shows the flagman with the yellow out and waving, just prior to Edwards crossing the line to take the white. I don't disagree with their choice to declare the white having been taken, due to the closeness to the stripe when the yellow came out (it's almost bang-bang), and the time of the cleanup saved for TV's sake. But if they have a green-white-checkered rule, would kind of been nice to have seen what the final restart would have brought - with the field completely jumbled at that point. Even if it was Kyle Busch winning in a destroyed car.

I cant believe i just wasted my time watching that. 3 1/2 hours of commercials and broadcast yammering, and 50 minutes of boring ass, single file driving. never again.

Really sucks for Earnhardt, but he is showing he is a legitimate contender this year. Had a top 5 car all night, so didn't just luck into that situation.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
It's a matter of time. The only other time he was that strong at Charlotte was in 2000 when he was the polesitter, and leading at a late race caution that shuffled the field. Heck, the only other top 5 at Charlotte during HMS days was when the 24 and 88 stayed out, gambling to finish higher, finishing 4th & 5th, in the 600 in 2008. (I half confused this as the race that Kyle Petty stayed out on fuel for his last top 5, a 3rd, but that was in the 2007 World 600, where Casey Mears won his only cup race) And I'll admit to being surprised that the 88 led the most laps in the 08 race. That doesn't happen all that often lately.shafnutz05 wrote:Really sucks for Earnhardt, but he is showing he is a legitimate contender this year. Sunday night in particular may be a portend of things to come on the mile and a half tracks. Kansas at a new time of year will be interesting, as is the debut at Kentucky in late June.
Though one wonders, if Johnson hadn't blown, perhaps all of the top runners would have ran out of fuel, and Harvick may still have won. Biffle and Kahne were out by lap 400 even with the late caution laps. Somehow I think the 88 is short in the same scenario. Same on Hamlin, who ran out the same time the 88 did while running 2nd. The 17 and 24 had already pitted under green for fuel. Somehow, that may be even more drama than the GWC restart we witnessed!
And one last observation - the fuel mileage gods giveth (Michigan 2008) and taketh away (Charlotte this year). But fuel mileage sure does create drama.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
Yeah, I thought for sure when he was able to erase the 4 second gap behind Hamlin and pass him, that it was going to be for the eventual win. Didn't think the 2 could make it. Kind of odd that Earnhardt has finished 2nd now in both of Keselowski's wins...
It's coming. 1 point out of 2nd and 2 points up on 4th, but the more important number halfway to the Chase, is 60+ points on 10th. It would take an epic collapse to miss the chase at this point. Though this team ought to win a couple of races before the end of Richmond.
It's funny. The chances were much better yesterday of winning than they were at Charlotte, yet Charlotte was somehow more crushing than yesterday was. Can't really explain that.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
Yeah yesterday wasn't overly crushing, probably because he was never actually winning the race at the white flag.
He definitely needs to get a win or two under his belt before Richmond, for confidence's sake and also because of the way the bonus points are alloted.
