Me too, I didn't think it was ever a possibility until now when it seems to be gaining momentum from a few different sources, not just the typical rumor crap.
Although at the same time part of me is just thinking since all the talking is being done by Jagr's agent that maybe there isn't much NHL interest and he's trying to act like there is just to drum some up.
Yeah, I never thought this coudl be real and he'd never be back. I think in the past, the Pens didn't need him, and I still think that today. I think he'd be a nice pickup for a good price, but the Pens don't need to bend over backwards to bring him in as they are doing just fine w/o him. With a healthy Sid and Geno, they are a contender every year.
And prior to this year, Jagr seems to not have wanted to come here for a discount. I guess however he wants to repair the relationship here, finish off a great career where it started, and where he has spent 11 of his 17 NHL seasons, and play with a new generation of superstars.
I think Jagr is on board, the question is, are the Pens, and can they get him for the right price w/o screwing up their long term vision.
If he does sign, I will be a very happy man. He has always been one of my favorites, and I'd love to see him one last time before he hangs them up as a Penguin.
