Little late to help, but a dozen or more ABC affiliates didn't carry the prerace show, but should have switched over at 7:30.
What a nerve-wracking race. Just goes to show, it really doesn't matter how far forward you are, it's easy to get caught up in other people's problems on a short track. To have it happen on lap 9...
Lots of paybacks during the race. Even the 88 and 48 weren't immune to seeking revenge, but theirs paled in comparison to Vickers on Ambrose.
The media center antics after the race were almost as good as the race itself. Kurt Busch denied saying he was in Johnson's head, even though he had just said it on the ESPN broadcast.
I watched the race itself on the 88 HotPass channel. Gained quite a bit of new respect for him and the entire team, the way they fought through the race to the finish. Earnhardt was half convinced he had a broken axle about 150 laps in. I suspect they got lucky that the last yellow (a questionable one it seems, according to Gordon's postrace availability) allowed a short run to the finish, as they turned to junk after 10 laps or so. Though by that point, there were only 18 cars on the lead lap. On the final restart, Letarte was quick to point out to Earnhardt that he didn't need any more positions. He took a couple anyway.
At one point midrace, the 2 was up to 2nd, while the 88 was in 24th or so, such that the in race margin was +2. In the end, the 2 gained only four points on the 88, for a +21 margin. They turned disaster into an average finish. And Letarte quoted as saying "now the gloves come off".
