have I mentioned how little I can tolerate the 99? Also, visited home this weekend---don't live with parents, as one might have concluded from the last post.

This would have been a treat:

Lousy race. At least the prior pack racing one had to be strong to get up front. Now, not so much.

The finish didn't help - caution with 9 to go and they only get a green-white-checker out of it? Should have red flagged it if they were having wall issues as an extra lap or two wouldv'e been a huge difference.

As it is, why, on a G-W-C, you are concerned about overheating, enough to give up track position behind your teammate makes no sense to me. Think they'd've been better off staying in the order they were and hoping for the best.

Wow. What a bang fest Martinsville was.

Somehow, I think the 48 on the final restart realized he was done for the title, and seemed like he didn't want to take Stewart out, as Stewart appears to be Edwards' main competition for the title at this point. Not mathmatically a two man race, but for all practical purposes is. Think I'd rather see Stewart get it, but it's Edwards' to lose. Don't see Harvick catching, though that might be my first choice of the three.

Totally agree on Johnson. He seemed to say as much in his post-race interviews. Man I despise Edwards. So smug. Stewart has run great in three races, good in one, and crap at Kansas. Edwards has run pretty good in three races and crap in the other two. However, Edwards is ahead of Stewart by virtue of his miraculous ability to get top tens in the races he is crap. So annoying. Go Tony.

Way too many wrecks too. Way, way, way too many. Of course, I wanted Hamlin to win who had by far the best car in the long, long runs. But there was only one of those in a race where over 20% of it was run under caution. Even NASCAR was avoiding throwing cautions when cars were completely turned around.

Case in point was the late spin of Keselowski on the last restart - no yellow came of that.

Seeing that race made me wish North Wilkesboro's 5/8 mile was still on the circuit. I love the intensity, but it seemed like the drivers had lost the concept of the bump and run, and instead chose wreck, wreck, wreck.

Yeah. Richmond was much better than Martinsville. The drivers got the demo derby out early and then we had plenty of green-flag racing. I do love the short tracks though.

Not to mention, when Keselowski spun, a part of his car flew off in the corner as well.

I could talk about Nascar all day. I was really bummed Hamlin couldn't win. I'm curious to hear what others say about Vickers. They didn't show enough of his first three wrecks. The last one was selfish and dumb given that Kensenth was long gone. And the fourth one was Kensenth being an ass an wrecking him.

Tony was so bad ass when he called out Edwards at the end. I hope he wins real bad.

Even though Tony is an open-wheel guy he "gets" NASCAR culture and is a real throwback.

He's like Forrest Griffin in the UFC. He's like Peyton Manning in the NFL--A huge whiner that then acts like he's super cool off camera. Every time he gets bumped he runs over to someone's car. The Busch's are jerks off camera so they get the bad rap, but on the track, they're no different than Edwards. I can't stand him. Win a race.

Vickers was involved in (not necessarily the cause of) at least 7 of the cautions. Surprised he didn't get parked for his retalliation on Kenseth.

Interesting read about the flaws of the current point system.

I'm rooting for Tony, Edwards seems like a ***** to me. I'm a big 48 fan, so I can't really complain about Edwards turning crap runs into solid finishes. That's how Johnson has made his living for the past 5 years.

Meh. I'm newer to the sport. It seems like Johnson wins with dominant cars week-in-week-out. Edwards doesn't even win. No matter who you are, you have to salvage your bad runs, but Edwards' only dominant run was Dover where he finished 3rd (after Pit Road speeding).

Good ran out of fuel in Chicago
Crap at New Hampshire
Dominant at Dover
Dominant at Kansas
Top-5 car before bad Pit strategy and wreck at Charlotte
Dominant at Martinsville.

Edwards is the perfect example of fame/money/success changing somebody. Dude was as down to Earth as any racer I met in 2002 back @ Mizzou. He'd dropped out of school, just won Roush's Gong Show, and was walking around the Engineering Bldg looking for a buddy. Got completely sidetracked when he saw the Formula SAE racecar we were working on and spent a couple hours just sitting on a stack of tires chatting. Even helped do some setup work with the team one weekend, although I heard it didn't take long for it become a competition of who could run with Carl.
Now, I look at him and no matter how much I want to like him (I think he's a good racer), I can't help but think he acts like an Ovechkin.

On the other hand, Danny Sullivan was one of the coolest cats I ever met while he was racing. Golf Course got backed up @ a charity event and stood around on the teebox with him for awhile. Walked right over and introduced himself like he was Joe Blow. We were like, "Of course, you're Mr. Spin-n-Win." He was like, "Is anybody ever going to forget that?" like he was ashamed or something. Ten year old girl thought he was dreamy and kept asking for his number, and he finally wrote one down on her golf ball when he signed it. After the race a few days later we decided to give it a call and it turned out to be his agent's office. Thought it was cool of him not to give her a 555 number.

Wow. Mayfield once had it good (Penske 2nd car) before Ryan Newman came around. Even nudged Earnhardt at Pocono on a rain-delayed Monday race at Pocono in 2000 to win. Then he had a brief resurgence with Evernham in the 19 and that Richmond win to get in the Chase whichever year that was.

Given his legal fight with NASCAR over his suspension, shouldn't be surprised by this arrest.

Kyle Busch intentionally wrecks Hornaday hard into the wall under yellow at Texas in the Trucks tonight on lap 13... parked the rest of the race, as he ended Hornaday's chance at a record 5th Truck series title. Though with the damage the 18 truck had, it was already done for the race. Busch and crew chief to NASCAR hauler after the race is over.

Very interesting comments after race on twitter. Harvick calls Busch a B-----. Keselowski expresses some displeasure though not explicitly. Hamlin says "not good" but in partial defense of teammate says "it was no different than last week except at higher speeds."

I can't believe he did that, personally. He's a top NSCC driver. Wrecking someone over something so minor is like me flagranty fouling my little brother during his modern school pickup game. Hornaday after says, anyone have a Sprint Cup? He'll never win again.

NASCAR has handed down this penalty twice in the last 10 years - once on Robby Gordon in 2007 for disobeying a NASCAR order in Montreal NNS race (sat Cup race at Pocono next day), and Kevin Harvick for wrecking Coy Gibbs intentionally in the truck race at Martinsville in 2002 (sat for rest of weekend at Martinsville including Cup, Kenny Wallace drove the 29 that day).

There is talk that any further penalty could be handed down on Tuesday. I would think that would be probation for the rest of the year in all series, and nothing more, since the sitting out of the Cup race should be a big enough wakeup call. But there is nothing to prevent NASCAR from parking him for the season, which is 2 more races in Cup and NW, and one in the Trucks.

One has to go back quite a number of years, maybe early 90s, when a team/driver was suspended for more than 1 race, think it was Junior Johnson's team. And that wasn't for rough driving but for rules infractions.

That's at least relatively excessive and majorly inconsistent with how NASCAR has handled wrecks all year. There's no difference betweent this move and what Kensenth admittedly did to Vickers last week. I don't have a problem with this type of punishment. But it needs to be consistent.

Well at least I get to see Hamlin in NNS race today, and he has a shot to get to 8th in NSCS which he has done every year in series. Def not a Busch fan anymore. Harvick has really grown on me this season.
