Re: Stand up comedy thread
My group got to the improv early enough to almost get seated on the stage. I hurriedly said can we sit back a few rows? Im very glad I did.

They do this every time. They try to put everyone up by the stage hoping that it is someone who is new or doesn't know any better and just accepts where they are seated.FreeCandy44 wrote:My group got to the improv early enough to almost get seated on the stage. I've been listening to John Mulaney through most of today so far. Good stuff.

Re: Stand up comedy thread
Yeah, Mulaney is one of the better recent comics IMO. I also like Pete Holmes, both his stand-up and his nerdist podcast. In fact I recommend checking out the Mulaney episode, it's pretty solid (he has mostly comedians on).

Rob Delaney: Live at the Bowery Ballroom was just added to netflix instant. He's hilarious on twitter and his standup was pretty great as well.

I find it endearing, but can see why someone wouldn't.

I drove from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon and then to San Diego a few years ago. I took back roads the whole time. My rental car had XM and I listened to the comedy stations pretty much the whole time. Bob Newhart is one funny dude when it comes to stand up.
Steven Wright might be my favorite.

Re: Stand up comedy thread
This guy is a trainwreck. I hated him on Best Week Ever and any of those other VHS specials. He was on Jesilnek's show a month or so ago and broke out laughing like a toddler every time he said something, or someone said something to him. You'd think it was his first time in front of an audience.shmenguin wrote:from what i gather, pete holmes is a 6 year old with brain damage and severe ADHD.

Sounds about right. It's concerning that he's popular.DudeMan2766 wrote:This guy is a trainwreck. I hated him on Best Week Ever and any of those other VHS specials. Dan Cummins is not funny at all. He should get a bat to the back of his head once for every time he has said "that joke is called".

watched L CK Oh My God over the weekend, thought it was good. Also watched Chappelles killing them softly which is always hilarious.

This needs to be stated and re-stated a million times; Kyle Kinane is simply amazing. Seriously. Youtube "God of Thunder" by him, and just sit back.

If you've got the $, just get his two albums. I just love his delivery...he can essentially take one thought he's had and just stretch it for ten minutes, hilariously.Idoit40fans wrote:Yeah, I never heard Kyle Kinane until a couple weeks ago. Pretty awesome.

i've been championing him for a couple years now. He and John Mulaney are probably my 2 favorite comedians at the moment.GSdrums87 wrote:If you've got the $, just get his two albums.
