Set bottled water in the sink too, otherwise you'll forget. you'll probably forget even with the bottled water there.

Seven hour layovers suck. Especially when the flight is delayed even longer.

I am thinking about planning an extended weekend trip to Nashville at the end of the month. Leave Friday morning and come home Sunday evening. Is it worth it this time of year, to go down there? Also what's there to do, other than hit up lower broadway establishments and listen to music?

i love nashville, probably one of my favorite places in the US. theres the country music hall of fame, johnny cash museum, the hermitage (andrew jackson) is about 10-15 miles from broadway epicenter. i also like walking around vanderbilt's campus. underrated in terms of campus beauty. lots of good eats.

January is an odd month to hit up N'ville. You planning on driving?

Yeah we are. It's the wife's bday and she has a long weekend off work for once, so thought the time was right. I just would hate to run into a snow storm in West Virginia or something.

So we are going to Nashville in 2 weekends. Got enough friends that want to go to make the cost reasonable. Staying at the Hyatt Place in downtown Nashville. What to do other than drink beer and listen to country music?

I'm making more an effort to not eat at chain/well known restaurants. Any suggestions? Also, we will probably be stopping at Jim Beam distillery on the way down.

Didn't some Japanese corporation buy Jim Beam the other day?

anyone ever use airbnb.com ? I'm thinking about using it for my weekend trip to Pittsburgh in March, as I'd rather give my money to some private small time person than a big hotel.

Good experiences? Bad experiences? Is the private room rather than private home/apartment option a weird thing? It seems like it's much cheaper than a hotel as well.

Never provided an update on my latest Mexico City trip. Took a day trip to Cholula and Puebla. Guess what kind of hot sauce they use in Cholula?

Look to see if Homemade Wine the Band is playing in Nashville that weekend. Good Southern rock/country band.

EDIT: Looks like they are not in town.

Going back to Vegas in March. To take advantage of Southwest's sale, we are leaving on a Wednesday and returning on a Monday.

We don't land until 7:30pm on Wednesday, so it's like 5.5 days and 5 nights.

I'm looking forward to seeing a show, and hitting casinos we missed on the last trip. And visiting Old Las Vegas, but probably during the day. Heard that part of Vegas is a tad dicey at night.

Instead of asking for what to do, what should I avoid at all costs.

FWIW, I have no desire to see any Cirque de Sol shows, so no need to suggest that. LOL

I want to go here, is there any reason I shouldn't? Too hipster? Or is it worth it?

I'd go to Fremont street in Old Vegas during the night to catch the light show. You can grab a limo/van or something in and out to avoid the scary parts.

Not sure why you wouldn't want to see a Cirque show. Love was outstanding.

I saw the Minus 5 ice bar on TV and it looked like something neat to try. http://www.minus5experience.com/locations/

We ate at a buffet in Caesar's Palace called Bacchanal. There's food from all over and it's really good. We waited in line 45 minutes and I believe each plate was $45, but it was well worth it. http://www.caesarspalace.com/restaurant ... tfR_bSDWkk
