Then feel free to point out these negative aspects because I don't recall you doing so. We may or may not agree on them.

The negative aspects of pot? Come on, Willie.

Plus, if I do, the response is going to be a comparison to other drugs/alcohol, arguing that pot is way less problematic. Been there, not interested in retreading.

Wait...why do we need to point out the negatives when comparing it to alcohol? I don't understand. Do we have 8 year olds looking at this thread for research? Because I don't know any other demographic who doesn't already know such things.

Id love to see the list of all the things that would be illegal in eismann's utopia. And if trampolines aren't on there, I call shenanigans. Those things cause way more harm than good.

Based on his comments, I would think Eismann would be all for making alcohol illegal again. Oh wait, he uses alcohol so that would be problematic.

So if people largely replaced their alcohol use with cannabis, we agree that there would likely be much less problems associated with said use? This is all I am arguing, that the net effects for society will be positive - not that there are absolutely no bad effects from cannabis use.

in case you're not aware of eismann's position on drugs, he's being extremely facetious.
Yeah, the quick recap is that i'm against full-on, no-limit legalization of pot use because I view it as another thing that's not good for people so removing a stigmatism against it is bad. I'm for using it for true medical purposes - not run of the mill stoners looking for a fix.

The crux of the friction with many other posters comes from the initial comparison between pot and alcohol. To reiterate, I think the bad things that happen due to or related to alcohol are bad and want there to be less of them, and that also goes for all bad things that people use/do. Several posters believe the effects of pot are much less bad than alcohol, and I would tend to agree. But in their effort to make that case, some would not acknowledge any negative aspects of pot at all. That's where my snarking comes in.
I think porn is bad for people but I don't think it should be illegal.

I think porn alleviates a lot of potential problems, many of which are violent.

Are you kidding me. It's sex. We need sex like we need, well, food, I would say. Try not having sex for a week. I can't concentrate on anything. Even your precious priests can't help themselves. If some porn can spice up your sex life, help you out in that sense, and I think most people could use some of that, go watch some. There is an absolute reason for the stuff, just like with anything, you don't want to get to addicted to it.

Didn't you say you only tried it a couple times? And from what I remember, you didn't even list the usual effects of it. I wouldn't tell you to go try it again if you're not interested, but I do think you have pot wrong.

Where are you coming up with that? I don't know of a single poster who has said there are no negative aspects at all. In fact, the negative aspects are why I've never done it myself. I think the bulk of the arguments are that the negatives are no worse than alcohol, or even that the negatives might not be as bad as alcohol. But that's a far cry from saying they are absent altogether.

Any impairment to your cognitive abilities can be reasonably labeled a negative.

Yes, but then why is alcohol illegal? It's amazing to me that some people will sit down over a beer and say pot should be illegal.

I'm not singling either of you out, btw. Just pointing out how stupid some people's arguments are in the general public.

Reason enough to stop this madness. So much money wasted, so many people in prison, so much crime allowed to blossom. Clearly, those who want it, will find it.

Yeah, and as someone with OCD, I don't see it as a negative on a personal level. But I can't drive a car or do my job, so that's not great I guess.

I don't think pot is suitable for everyday use. I know people who smoke too much. Not good.

You should be careful with the word "we". We don't need sex like we need food, that's just ridiculous. PFiDC is not even Catholic, so I don't know why you're saying "youre precious priests". You don't need porn to "spice up your sex life"... use your own imagination. There is so much just wrong with this post, I'm not even sure you're serious (but knowing you... you are).

I use the word 'we' and I will continue to use the word 'we', unless maybe you're physically broken and are no longer interested in the opposite sex. This is nature, this is your DNA, and nobody here is going to tell me they never enjoyed a dirty movie, even if they're too chicken to admit it. We need a sexual outlet as we need food, for both physical and psychological reasons.
