that's only slightly more complicated than "think of a number, add 12... subtract 12... and you'll end up with your original number."

yep. my mind certainly isn't blown.

1. go to your mobile phone
2. remove facebook app
3. go to your computer
4. remove facebook from your bookmarks
5. you are now a more functional human

But really, this is a pretty entertaining thread, so don't do that.

I had to block one of my friends because she seems to be exclusively posting stuff about gender hypocrisy. The breaking point was when she argued that Klose's World Cup scoring record isn't really a record because women have more goals in the Women's WC.

I wanted to suggest to her that they should let Klose play in the Women's World Cup, and after he scores 20 or so goals in one tournament, the point would be moot, but I thought better of it.

I'm not going to argue that there are not legitimate gender issues in society. However, men's and women's sports cannot be compared apples to apples. And crapping on male achievements shouldn't be what that's about, either.

That seems pretty blocking worthy. Just that one isolated post.

I know people who are asking to have commentators say the "mens" record is held by Klose, instead of assuming men as the neutral. The reason I don't see that as mattering, is we know they are taking about Men's Soccer, and the Men's WC. I'm sure at the Women's WC, they will say the record holder as just being that, not the Women's record holder.

When it comes to gender inequality, sports are no where near the top of the list of problems.

They shouldn't even be on the list, IMO. There are much bigger fish to fry. Title IX (which in its original form was a ground breaking win for the feminist movement, but that was before they included sports in it) has already done its fair share to "level the playing field" so that women have the opportunity in sports.

While Title IX certainly opened the doors to college and universities for females as well as gave females the opportunity to flourish as athletes (which is the awesome part of the law), it eventually became this weird quota system that requires equal participation from males and females in college funded sports, without having equal interest from male and female students. If you want to see the impact that Title IX has on university sports, look at what happened at Howard University. They cut men's wrestling and baseball and introduced women's bowling to try narrow the gap between percent of female students and percent of female athletes.

i see a lot of women posting links to articles about "mom problems" or generally complain about all the obligations they have as mothers. maybe my marriage is completely different than everyone else's, but aside from the major major contributions of birthing and nursing our daughter, there isn't anything that my wife does as a parent that i don't do - aside from being on public bathroom duty.

Bill Burr's bit on moms, specifically stay at home moms is great.

And I have never once seen you or your wife complain annoyingly on Facebook about baby related stuff. So you guys clearly aren't normal for this day and age.

Obviously I'd probably be one of those annoying people so I ditched Facebook. LGP took a big hit because of that...my bad...

I understand why people do it. I did it. It doesn't make it less annoying to a lot of people.

We wouldn't be able to feel smug and superior to other parents if we started playing that game.

Got one girl at the beach, another is heading on her honeymoon. It's been humble brag updates every 15 minutes from these two for a week. "Guess I should start parking since I'll be leaving for Key West on our honeymoon in 2 days."
"I hear it's only in the 80s back home, it's 95 here but good thing I have this water to cool me off!!" (Insert pick of legs, drink, and body of water)
"My little girl is so excited to stay with her grandparents for the week since we'll be on our honeymoon!"

No one cares

But I'm sure they get enough "likes" to think people do and continue the annoying posts.

I usually don't care if people post once, about a trip or something fun they are doing. Usually I just think "oh, they will have a great time" and move on. When they start to post multiple times it gets incredibly annoying.

Now's when you see a lot of people post about how they want to watch more soccer now after watching the World Cup followed by 2 things:

1. Soccer snobs arguing over which soccer league is the best to watch now that you've found soccer Jesus
2. the person who made the original post watching 30 minutes or less of soccer until 2018
