Twinkle twinkle and the alphabet. Every single night. We both have to sing them to her separately.

Well...It's mutual. I like doing it. She likes hearing it. She also learned the alphabet really early which is a plus.

I wasn't assuming you didn't enjoy it. I'm sure you do. Bedtime is a great time but sometimes there are tough nights with a toddler. Not often but they happen. And sometimes on those nights you do whatever you have to. (Hence the terrorist negotiations)

With three kids I think I read that book about a thousand times.

Somehow we managed to train our toddler to love bed time. She hasn't thrown a fit about it soft months and months. Sometimes she'll have a "what the hell is this crap" moment after I set her down and leave the room but it only lasts a minute.

What I'm trying to say is that there's a 100% chance that the next baby shmenguin (due in 8 weeks) is going to be a tyrant. No one is allowed to have 2 good kids, from what I gather.

lol, I feel the same way shmenguin. Our daughter has been pretty much the model well-behaved baby. She never cries...maybe lets out a few whimpers while we are putting her in PJs after bath time, but that's it. Can take her out to a restaurant with absolutely zero concerns about a meltdown or anything. Slept through the night at 3 months, etc etc. The other shoe has to drop with Kid #2.

My daughter wanted that book every night for two years straight. I will now have no trouble repeating that book everyday when I'm in the home with Alzheimers.

I sing to my son every night. We usually stick to twinkle twinkle, silent night, amazing grace, American Pie, the ABC's, I've been working on the railroad, and 10 bears on the bed. He gets about 2-3 songs a night.

I specifically remember reading a chapter in one of his books that talks about the kind of moments Shad was referring too. It sparked the memory of what I read.

I took the kids swimming today and we had a great time. My 3 year old son was afraid of jumping in like his bigger sister and so I held his hand while he jumped, and he was so excited when he jumped. He immediately told me, "Dada, you are my best buddy. We are best buddies forever, right?". Made my heart melt right there in the pool.

We'll trade you for a week. Here's where we're at right now:

Child #1 has taught herself to fight sleeping at all costs. Literally it's like William Wallace fighting the English. She will be absolute exhausted and find things to keep herself up until there is absolutely zero drops of gas left in tank. Then she's totally out until about 5 am when it starts again.

Child #2 has Hulk rage. She's turning 2 this weekend and goes from super happy to something setting her off where she throws whatever she can find to the floor then slaps the nearest person or thing. Side problem is that daughter #1 is not extremely gifted with the ability to catch or throw. Daughter #2, who likes to throw things, has a pretty good arm on her. We try to ignore it but it was really hard to not laugh the other day when she grabbed one of her inflatable balls and tried to throw it at my wife, who was sitting on a chair. 3 times in a row, she chucked it, missed my wife and the ball bounced off the chair back into my daughter's face. Each time made her more frustrated and determined to hit her target. After time number 3, she sat her happy ass on the ground and just yelled it out.

Last night during my sons shower I looked over and noticed him sticking his right fist into his mouth. I playfully said "Don't stick your fingers in your mouth ya goofball!" To which my son replied, "It's OK daddy. They're my fingers."

I can't argue with that logic...

6 years and still singing every night. Twinkle, What's the name of that song?, Sing a song, and I don't want to live on the moon, and jurrasic park theme. Me mum transferred all the old sesame street records onto cds for the kids and luckily they've all grown up with that SS music compared to what's on there today.

been working on getting the 2.5 year old to go in the bathroom. It's been real tough. Today he finally broke and said he's afraid because he doesn't want to get eaten by a T-Rex. Maybe he was too young for Jurassic Park?

My 2.5 year old had a potty training milestone yesterday. He demanded that my mother in law send us a picture...

The apple doesn't fall far I guess...

We had a good potty-run for a month or so, then we went on vacation and got lazy. I have a friend whose 3 year old has taken to peeing off the deck, so I may try that 'targeting' technique to see if he likes to pee on stuff... Oddly enough, he's go the other part down, just doesn't always warn us with enough notice.
