Conner came back in. He seems fine.
That's good. I haven't caught any of the game and no one mentioned that he was back... was worried.
You aren't missing much not seeing the game. It has not been pretty.

This team is going to find a way to lose to Akron.

Conner is making crap reads. Dude needs to stay inside the tackles and quit trying to be Barry Sanders.

Voytik somehow has no weight transfer from his back foot to his front foot when throwing. The motion is there, but no power is generated. It's weird to watch.

I think Voytik is still learning how to be a pocket passer. Wasn't he recruited when Fraud was here as a spread QB? He still seems to want to run at the first sign of pressure, and still needs to learn to go through all of his reads.

The question is, how long will slappy go with the "he needs time" routine, because we don't have that kind of time.

Agree on Conner, he is dancing way too much today. Stay inside, not everything has to go outside the tackles.

Weatherspoon sucks. They burned Jennings' red shirt today. There's no way in hell he's worse than Weatherspoon.

I am so freaking embarrassed to be a Pitt fan right now. So disgusted and Chryst deserves alot of blame. So pathetic. When will we get a team and coach that doesn't lose to these freaking cupcake teams?

If we hadn't had 20 coaches in the last 4 years I'd say fire him. No excuse for what happened today.

They went with the suck all game, rather than blow it in the second half routine. Clever.

So here's the question of the day: Does Pitt find a way to pull things together and eke out a trip to Birmingham, or will this show reach a new low?

Was Conner out for the whole game? Was that the main reason for the loss? I didn't see the game. Not trying to troll.

He was only out for a few plays. He danced around too much today. Tried to take too many runs outside when it wasnt needed.

The entire team **** the bed today pretty much.

To be fair, Pitt fans have seen this fish before. This reminds me of Walt inexplicably losing at home to a fledgling Division I-A USF program. Or Walt losing at Toledo. Or Wanny losing at Ohio. Or Wanny immediately sucking the external buzz that 13-9 created by opening the next season with a loss to Bowling Green at home. Or all the losses to UConn they had no business losing.

It's a ridiculously young team, but this is three straight games in which focus and urgency became a massive issue at various points of the game. Against FIU it was the first quarter. Against Iowa it was the second half. Today, this group played like they wanted to be anywhere but on the field, and it was just about everyone. I'm a huge fan of Paul Chryst, but this is an issue.

Over the last few weeks, reports surfaced that Holtz and Orndoff were both frustrated that Voytik wasn't even looking their way despite them being wide open on a few occasions. Today, apparently there were a couple of instances where it happened again and Holtz was supposedly livid on the sidelines. On the late INT, Boyd was very visibly frustrated because Voytik just horribly underthrew him.

I think Chryst built up a lot of good will with these players, but I have no idea what happens from here. I want to see how this team handles this. I said on Twitter that this will all be very confusing when Pitt beats Virginia and Virginia Tech by a combined score of 100-14, and I think I was half-joking when I said it.

In all seriousness, this was ugly. Akron manhandled Pitt on the lines today, and there's no excuse for that - not when there actually are veteran players on both the offensive and defensive lines.

Voytik is just handcuffing the offense at this point, too. Teams are basically stacking eight and sometimes nine to stop Conner and forcing Pitt to throw the ball to beat them, and thus far it hasn't been good. Voytik has a better arm and can make more plays than Sunseri could, but he has the same problems Tino did with consistency. He can't sustain drives and teams know it. No idea how they fix this.

I have faith in Voytik's ability to become a good quarterback, but I can honestly see Bertke being the QB next season. Voytik is not the right quarterback for this offense.

I know nothing about Bertke. His offer list was the Chryst special: Pitt and a bunch of MAC teams.

Big arm, not overly mobile. Pretty much your standard pro style QB.
