I keep waiting for Kinane to blow up. I think he's trying to get away from that drunken comic persona and it seems like hes finally shaking it.(doing drunk history last year probably doesn't help) Or at least we will see if he has on the 23rd. He's so good.

Saw him last November. Amazing show. I still say to my wife "Take luck!"
Edit: I believe he's more popular than you think. Tickets were hard to get, and at the end of each show for encore he allows the audiences to pick one of his old comedy bits for him to perform. Maybe it's a cult following, but he's popular.

outside of my family I don't think I've ever talked to anyone about Brian Regan. He is really obscure for the most part, but I think he's tremendous.

Indeed. And among comedians he's pretty much universally revered as one of the best out there, for whatever it's worth.Idoit40fans wrote:Yeah hes insanely popular. He just doesnt do anything other than stand up so hes not out there.

Yeah, a lot of interviews that I've seen with comedians bring him up as one of the greats. I remember listening to him years ago. His special from 1997 is one of the best specials I've ever heard.

Favorite Regan bit is about tying the balloons to cars at a car dealership.

I'm not as much into comedians as others may be, but I ran across an act from a guy I normally ignored due to his ugly face... and it was great. Didn't realize he was this good. I'll look for his other shows.

Breuer is more proof you don't need to be dirty or obscene to be funny.

And he's proof that you can work a James Hetfield impression into your act and not lose your audience. Also has one of the best laughs I've ever heard.

Re: Stand up comedy thread
I watched the newest Bill Bur standup on netflix and laughed the entire way through. Need another suggestion that is currently on netflix for this weekend. I see a lot of talk about mike birbiglia and hes on there, how does he compare?

Re: Stand up comedy thread
Birbiglia is way different from Burr. If you want something closer to Burr, I'd suggest Jim Jefferies. Don't watch with a SO though unless they can really really take a joke. He gets pretty out there with the misogyny, but it's so funny.
Birbiglia's "What I should have said was nothing" is really really good stuff. His latest special wasn't nearly as funny to me, but it was a good story.

Birbiglia is perfect for xm. I like his bits but he gets annoying through a special. Jefferies is excellent.

Re: Stand up comedy thread
I know they're not stand up, but Impractical Jokers is a hilarious show. They also have a travelling troupe called The Tenderloins. Never heard them perform. Has anybody else?
