Just had Port Brewing Mongo for the first time. This is a very good IPA. Probably would've gotten one of my wild card votes if I'd had it earlier.

What do the #s to the left of the wild cards mean?

I'm guessing the ranking based on votes for wildcards.

They don't really mean anything. They were just the numbers I used when I made the original wild card list. I was just too lazy to delete the numbers when I cut and pasted the ones that made the bracket.

I'm voting matchups where I've tried both or ones where I've tried one and feel like I can speculate.

1. Heady Topper (haven't had HT, but Hoppy Feat is only "pretty good")
---- (have had Flower Power but don't feel comfortable guessing)
3. Dog Fish 90 Minute
2. Victory DirtWolf

---- (Don't love Sculpin, personally, so not sure since I haven't tried the other)
---- (Idle Hands is good, but again not sure here)
---- (N/A)
---- (N/A)

1. Fat Heads Headhunter
5. Founders Double Trouble
---- (N/A)
2. Bell's Two Hearted Ale

1. Pliny the Elder
4. Deschutes Fresh Squeezed
7. Little Sumpin' Wild
---- (N/A)

How does Green Flash Le Freak (belgian ipa) make it in over West Coast IPA? They are both great, but I figured WC IPA would be more accessible to everyone. (not that it probably matters going up against Pliny)

I agree on that one on both counts. Pliny would win easily over either. I don't like Le Freak, personally. I think Little Sumpin' Wild is my favorite Belgian IPA. Raging ***** is solid, but I think LSW achieves a better balance between belgian yeast flavors and hops.

meowshrug.txt. I like le freak, possibly my favorite beer I've ever had. Many beers on the list are comparable to pliny, but don't have that allure or prestige to their name. Not many can live up to le freak in my mind.

On that endorsement, I'm going to have to try Le Freak again because I don't have a vivid recollection of it other than to recall that I had written it off as a potential purchase.

I'm also surprised that Hopsecutioner has votes. I found it quite mediocre. I haven't had Tropicalia, but know some here love it. It's interesting to see people's thoughts on these.

You don't have to vote for each pairing.

I think the good beers in the SE aren't widely distributed. The ones that are widely distributed are just decent, for many people. Guess that's why we aren't getting many votes.

I know, I skipped a couple where I hadn't had either.

All I can really vote for is sculpin and dfh 90, I wish I could vote for Union Jack, but still need to try sumpin wild bc I love Belgian IPAs,

Edit: vote for dirtwolf, and retract the Union Jack part bc I meant to say enjoy by. I haven't had the founders on Union Jack is against so I can't vote for that

I'm not either. Granted, I've only had a couple of their darker ones, but know that I don't care for them. Similar to Troegs in the not-my-thing bucket.

Also voting for:
Chillwave over Centennial
Westbrook over Idle Hands

I love how Chillwave looks and smells. Great aroma. Centennial is very good, but a little maltier than I like. I haven't had Idle Hands, but was really impressed with Westrbook.

A bit surprised that Dirtwolf is shutting out Hop Devil. The Hop Devil got the most votes in the wild card round and thought some might like it more than the Dirtwolf.

I'm not... hop devil is a good beer and I voted for it in the wild card, but Dirtwolf is hands down a better beer.
