Lachlan Patterson wasn't bad; even if the tickets weren't free I wouldn't have been too disappointed with paying full price

Re: Stand up comedy thread
Well... I guess I'll be going to see Kevin Hart at the end of March here in State College. Won free tickets from a local radio station. They were having a contest where you submit a joke and if it wins they read it on the air and you win tickets. They have one joke per day this week that gets read, and mine won this morning. I just submitted a joke that I remembered reading while browsing reddit one day.

Watched Aziz Ansari's new show from MSG. Was disappointed. Way worse than his other special on netflix, which I thought was okay. Nick Offerman's American Ham was very good. I'd recommend everyone to watch it. I just burst out laughing everytime he does that stupid giggle he has.

Offerman is too schticky for me. That's fine in an acting role. Not standup.

I liked that standup special, but I expect that any other one would be bad, and I definitely never want to see his standup live.

Re: Stand up comedy thread
Aziz Ansari strikes me as almost uniquely unfunny. He was on an episode of 'Mind of a Chef' where they visit Canada and go to Joe Beef (a truly wondrous place). And he's just.... lame.
OTOH, if you want to supplement your Nick Offerman intake, look for hisi woodorking videos on YouTube; the ones where he's building canoes are particularly fun. Definitely focused on the carpentry, but every now and then he says or does something that makes you realize that Ron Swanson is a real human being.

Somehow people have enjoyed Jeff Dunham's "comedy" so much that he owns the original Burton Batmobile.

And a lot of other cars.

My wife loves Kevin Hart, but I don't really find him all that funny. Definitely not worth the outrageous ticket prices for show at Consol not long ago.count2infinity wrote:Well... I've always liked Dunham, he's not a traditional stand up guy but his characters are funny to me for the most part, and I've always though ventriloquists were interesting.

Although I haven't seen new ones in a while, My favorite stand up artists right now are Louis c.k (great delivery and he just makes me giggle like a girl), Eddie Murphy, "the dice" or whatever his name was, and chappelle of course
