Re: Penguins Trade Deadline: Buyers and Sellers?
I'm a bit surprised we've not seen a Beauvillier or Grzelcyk trade. All the reports out there for the past 2 months said teams were calling on them, along with DOC (who got dealt).

Still time. I'd be shocked if they aren't moved.FLPensFan wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 3:08 pmI'm a bit surprised we've not seen a Beauvillier or Grzelcyk trade. All the reports out there for the past 2 months said teams were calling on them, along with DOC (who got dealt).

Another interesting note....Novak has selected or been assigned #18. Schenn...still has no announced number. Still thinking about flipping him for the right price?

Included in a trade?FLPensFan wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 2:48 pmThere were no Penguins on waivers today. You may find that normal, however, Boko Immama is still on the NHL roster. By not placing him on waivers today, he's going to be on the NHL roster rest of the season. He won't be eligible for AHL playoffs.

That would be a major W for us. I like the idea of Schenn mentoring our next wave of D Men - but I like the idea of flipping him much much more.

Why lose last retention spot on Schenn on already small salary? Doesnt make sense.. keep last retention for possible EK, Graves, Jarry or Hayes.. bigger contractsFLPensFan wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 3:35 pmAnother interesting note....Novak has selected or been assigned #18. Two retention spots open up this summer. We'd be fine.Pens4Life wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 3:56 pmWhy lose last retention spot on Schenn on already small salary? I don’t think a Jarry or EK trade happens until the summer anyway.

Right, but we should use it. Unless EK is moved we should use that slot. Not sure what you're getting at. Why should we save it?

Sure use it,but only IF they are really sure that none of bigger contracts gets traded.. where retention would probably better used

Re: Penguins Trade Deadline: Buyers and Sellers?
If KD doesn't have any offers where he's using it for something big like EK, Rakell, or a Jarry cap dump, why not use it on a UFA like Beau or Gryz to get a better return. As long as we get the slot back after the season, might as well use it.
Beau @ $625k (if that's legal) instead of $1.25M
Gryz @ $1.375 instead of $2.75M
Probably won't make that much of a difference, but if the return is a pick and it bumps it up a around, might as well do it.

That is legal, though, why we would retain on a nothing burger of a contract like Beauvillier is beyond me. I don't think that would bump up the pick by a round. Grz, maybe.EndO FanEra wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 4:47 pmIf KD doesn't have any offers where he's using it for something big like EK, Rakell, or a Jarry cap dump, why not use it on a UFA like Beau or Gryz to get a better return. Much prefer to use it to eject Karlsson and get something useful back. Give me your first rounders!

Or he's working on a bribe with McGroarty for the #2. I mean it's not currently in use but it would be rude since he wore it a few months ago.FLPensFan wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 3:35 pmAnother interesting note....Novak has selected or been assigned #18. Heard Seth Rorabaugh say Pens should start the asking price for Rakell at three 1st rounders
.
That seems like crazy talk but who knows.
I’d be very happy with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for him.

That's ridiculous and I heard the same thing. He also suggested we should just hold onto Rakell which when you consider this mareket would be asinine!penscup wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 5:48 pmHeard Seth Rorabaugh say Pens should start the asking price for Rakell at three 1st rounders.

I could see something like this: Rakell, '25 3rd to LA for Brandt Clarke, '26 1st and Trevor Moore.
Maybe we add Beauviller and pick up an additional pick. But they're up against the cap so...

Definitely agree we should be all in trying to move Rakell at this years deadline as his value and the market are perfect. Yes we still have to ice a team and yes keep Sid happy, but it’s not like he hasn’t produced with the Simons and Sheary’s of the world.

Re: Penguins Trade Deadline: Buyers and Sellers?
You could put Jágr on his wing right now and that line would put up goals.BlackNGold4Life wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 6:08 pmDefinitely agree we should be all in trying to move Rakell at this years deadline as his value and the market are perfect. Media and some fans act like if we trade Rakell we aren't allowed to dress a 1sr line LW anymore. This season is done. Try someone else in the top 6....NOT YOU CODY GLASS. Or keep Beauvillier and play him with Crosby the rest of the year.
We are limited in callups and want prospects playing in playoffs....but give McGroarty another look or Koivunen his first look.
There are options. The world and 1st line LW will go on if Rakell is moved.

If tomorrow afternoon and RR is still on our roster, and Dubas is asked why, and the answer he gives is that he didn't receive an offer that he liked, then he didn't try hard enough and failed the team.
He needs to be aggressive and get the deal done that he likes. Pick a dance partner and get out there on the dance floor.

Re: Penguins Trade Deadline: Buyers and Sellers?
100%, these next few hours will go a long way in my mind in determining if KD is strongly moving us in the right direction. Instead of an incremental improvement it could be a profound one IF he maximizes and moves Rakell. Holding onto him would be awful in my book. If Rakell scores 35 goals on a last place team how does that help us? Also, he's going to be 32 soon. Chances are this will be the very best year of his career. Please Kyle, strike while the iron is hot!BigMcK wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 6:40 pmIf tomorrow afternoon and RR is still on our roster, and Dubas is asked why, and the answer he gives is that he didn't receive an offer that he liked, then he didn't try hard enough and failed the team.
