So...help us clear cap space, and give us a late round pick to do it? That's the low grade of this deadline for Dubas for sure.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 3:55 pmSo, I'm reading that this was a three team deal, part of the Carlo deal. Toronto got Carlo, Boston got a 1st round pick and prospect Fraser Minten, and Penguins got Conor Timmins and Connor Dewar. I'm assuming Pittsburgh had to get something else in this deal to take those salaries off of Toronto's hands. Both players are RFAs at seasons end.Puck-Lurker wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 3:51 pmYeah, they were in the red before. Re: Official 2025 trade deadline
Barely a 4th line F, even tho he scored 10 goals for Minnesota year ago, with Leafs 1 goal in 48 games and 3rd pair RHD Timmons..
luckily their contracts expire this season...why KD did a favour to Leafs?

That deal is getting a D from me. Might as well not have done it.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 3:59 pmSo...help us clear cap space, and give us a late round pick to do it? Is Junior Manager Dubas aware that he doesn't work for Toronto anymore?

So he was wasting time to accomodate and doing Leafs a favour instead of offloading Gryz or Acciari somewhere?

If that is the last deal he has done, overall I give him a D for this trade deadline.

It has been a long time since I have been so disappointed in this team. Can’t even manage the best sellers market in a long time. Spin it any way you want……. This sucks

Re: Official 2025 trade deadline
This is an organization severely lacking direction and identity.
You have to wonder if this ownership is going to stop a true rebuild and this is going to be the Penguins until 87, 71 and 58 retire

Procrastinating all the big moves to the summer is not a winning plan.

Not sure how you describe it as great. He got good returns for Schenn, Beauvillier, and Glass. But at the end of the day, those are picks in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. They absolutely need to re-stock the system, which is good. But he didn't trade the one player he needed to with Rakell. Look at the returns last night and today, this was a missed opportunity to sell high on Rakell.

Not moving at least Grzelcyk is baffling. He's a pending UFA in the NHL roster of a team that has a lottery pick.

Re: Official 2025 trade deadline
Dubas trades Schenn and Beauvillier for two 2nd round picks. Common feeling every where else is KD did very well. Except here, accumulating picks don't do anything for this team.
Dubas could have traded Gryz for a mid round pick maybe. The results here would have been, mid round pick don't count or mean anything. Can't win.
Trades Glass for a 3rd after getting a 3rd to trade for him. Again picks don't matter.
Rakell wasn't traded. KD dropped the ball. Nobody knows what the Pens were even offered.
Not sure what was expected. We were trading spare parts mostly and got good value. Nobody wants Acciari and Heinen. And if anyone did what do you think we would have gotten? a 4th round pick that doesn't mean anything.
Rakell and EK will be dealt with in the off-season most likely. I wanted them to deal Rakell as well but I'm not going to let that take away from all of the good that was done today.

Re: Official 2025 trade deadline
MM incorrectly thinks we have to keep Rakell to appease Crosby. He wrote an article about how 5 years ago we should have traded Malkin and didn't. His logic is because we made the wrong choice back then it's ok to make the wrong choice now.the riddler wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 4:31 pmNot sure how you describe it as great. You can't take anything he says seriously it defies logic

Re: Official 2025 trade deadline
Dubas gets an A. We got a 30-goal scorer (Rakell because most of you had him gone) and some younger talent on the roster. There is tons of good draft capital to rebuild and a good amount of cap space moving forward. Plus, it seems to be giving many here a stroke, which is hilarious.

I still cannot believe Carolina. What the hell did they do? They were a legit team to win it this year and traded away everything for nothing but futures. And then at the deadline they did nothing?

Re: Official 2025 trade deadline
Sure we wanted more fireworks, but I find it odd that everyone is complaining about the stockpile of picks this team has. They are not going to use every draft pick! That is called "capital" for more/better moves in the future.KG wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 4:35 pmDubas trades Schenn and Beauvillier for two 2nd round picks.
